I am in the computer lab, trying to stay as long as possible because in so doing, hopefully I finish one of my assigments and I won't feel like i've wasted away my day. its neither sunny nor hot today unlike the past three days so the end to procrastination starting today seems appropriate. now, fellow smartypantses... if you were an grade nine english student and you were studying the topic of alienation, what five week unit would you like to have included amongst fabulous topics such as..."The Australian Aboriginal Experience", "Australian poetry", "Edward Scissorhands", "The Perks of Being a Wallflower", "Romeo and Juliet", "The Honey Spot - an Australian play" and "Creative writing 101"... any takers? there are a few units in there that i think are kinda weak and i could probably do to fix them up a little bit but yah, i know how much everyone loves grade nine...
and as for my outback trip...
it was good fun. we spent five days sweating, swatting and (s)hiking (hooray crappy alliteration attempt!) around alice springs and uluru. it was more what i pictured australia to be like, maybe that's cuz it was more like how australia was featured on Survivor but meh, it was still cool. one of the best parts was flying over central australia and just seeing how massive the nothingness was... massive and red. anyway, so we hiked around the olgas, hiked around uluru (the rock climb was closed but i wouldnt have done it if it was open anyway, i would have felt guilty even if it is only a rock!) and then hiked king's canyon which if you've seen Priscilla queen of the desert, it's the canyon they climb in one of the final scenes... oooh so close to celebrity. speaking of which, we yet again ran into some "famous" Australians at the airport. these were several cast members of the just-newly-released-but-soon-to-be-cancelled show the Alice. unfortuantely sherr was not with us to give us the courage to go ask for a picture and so i have no actual documentation to prove to you that i did infact fly on the same flight as those guys from the Alice... they are so famous i dont even care to look up their names. anyway, my other definite highlight although it wasn't all that comfortable was sleeping in my swag in the outback. i didnt get much sleep but i slept outside with the snakes and spiders. go me! finally our trip ended up with a night out at the melenka backpacker bar in alice... it was super fun times. anyway, if i dont end this quickly im going to get yelled at for my lack of lj cutting.
